Grenada
A quick update on our weekend! We got on a bus Friday after classes and headed about 4 and a half hours to Grenada. We got there and had a dinner at our hotel. It was a buffet dinner with a lot of rice, pastas, salad, vegetables, fries and more. The hotels we have been staying in are nice and we have had 3 people to a room. We got there pretty late and just hung out the rest of the night. The next morning after breakfast we all went to Alhambra for the day. Alhambra is technically a separate town than Grenada but they are right next to each other. Alhambra is a small area that includes a huge castle and buildings and many beautiful gardens. We spent the afternoon with a tour guide who took us all around the different parts of Alhambra. Since there were so many of us in the tour, we all had little earpieces (that we all were very entertained with) that we plugged in our ears and the tour guide had a little microphone so we could all hear him. Like all of our other tours we have done, he did the tour in spanish and we really did learn a lot. The tree of Grenada is the pomegranate tree because Grenada means pomegranate (thought you would enjoy that tree fact Dad). Anyways we had tapas at a fun restaurant afterwards and then had some free time until later on. That night we went to a flamenco show which was pretty cool. It was very different watching them dance and there is a lot of clapping and feet stomping involved. The girls was big flamenco dresses and flowers in their hair. Flamenco really is a huge activity here and I am glad we got to see the show :) This morning we left around 10 and made it back to Cadiz. Natalie and I went to the beach for a little while (since we have such a hard life here and needed to relax on the beach for the afternoon) ...and then met up with a bunch of our group at a little place to watch the Spain vs. Italy soccer game. All the stores in Cadiz were closed for the game except for little cafes and bars. Their are Spain flags hanging up all along the streets and tons of people wearing Spain jerseys. The Eurocup is going on and Spain has some pretty dedicated fans. It was a lot of fun to watch the game with a bunch of local people. They were all chanting and getting super into the game so it was fun. The game sadly ended in a tie 1 to 1 but Spain still can make it through! We just finished up some dinner and we are in our room. We have a regular week of classes and a few fun activities as well. Miss you guys and I'll keep you updated! Can't believe we only have 2 more weeks!!!
